VALENTINE'S SPECIAL
14th February 2017 Dáil Eireann
Remember:
It's not the children that are in the band, its' the band that the children are in
It's not the children that are in the band, its' the band that the children are in
Join us: 12 noon on Valentine's Day - Dáil Éireann Dublin
Thursday 24th November 2016
Today we went to the Lord Mayor's residence, The Mansion House to continue our campaign for the disbandment of the Artane Band. The Lord Mayor is also chairperson of Dublin City Council and first citizen of the city, he is also ex-officio patron of the Artane Band and he made wholly unacceptable comments to the media about the integrity of our campaign.
After the Mansion House we continued our campaign at the top of Grafton Street, where again, we had an overwhelming positive response. The citizens and people get what our campaign is about and support it wholeheartedly.

7th November - 2016
Dublin City Council Meeting
The Lord Mayor tried to force my motion for debate without informing me or seeking my consent. Its called rail roading. I objected strongly to this and tried to reason with the Lord Mayor that what he was doing was wholly undemocratic and unreasonable. It would seem that most of the Councillors in the Chamber were unaware of the Lord Mayor's intent and personal agenda.
I left the chamber and the whole debate and issue had become unsafe for me and I joined my colleagues outside the front of the City hall who were outside campaigning on the issue of the disbandment of the Artane Band and supporting my motion.
My motion was on the agenda and would have been heard some time in the New Year, maybe even March and I am happy enough to leave it on the agenda until it is properly called.
One has to ask, why the Lord Mayor and all of these Councillors are in such a rush to debate my motion in such a fashion.

Motion October 17th 2016
North Central Area Committee

Today a group of us took to the streets of Coolock at Northside Civic Centre where my motion regarding the history of the Artane Band and the Artane Industrial School was put before the North Central Area Committee.
In what can only be described as a gross act of denial only one Councillor voted in favour of the motion. (Cllr Michael O Brien)
Denial ruled the day. It was an act of shocking violence the deafening silence. How can it be that the findings of the Ryan Report and the finding of serious Garda inquiry into child abuse, whole sale criminal and sexual violence that was perpetrated in Artane industrial school can be written out of history?
It is a great shame that the Cllrs in this instance chose to keep Ireland and it's people in the dark and protect the Christian Brothers and their manifestation through the present Artane Band. The people of Artane and indeed the North Central Area need now to stand up to this shameless shameful act.
The paedophiles and rapists and child abusers will take great comfort in today's decision by this area committee and its councillors. While we, the people who experienced this abuse in our childhood, carry a much heavier burden as a result of today's refusal by the Cllrs to acknowledge the true and proven history of the Artane Boys Band, the Artane Band and the Artane Industrial School.
Like the dark days of the beginning of this journey for justice, we stood alone against the Catholic Church, the Christian Brothers and the orders of nuns. Sad today, that we stood alone again at the North Side Civic Centre.
We take comfort from the many people, local residents who we met, all of whom understood our issue and were fully supportive.
We thank you for your hospitality and we will be visiting with you again soon.
Truth and Justice is what we seek.

Two motions were placed at last months meeting, September 19th in relation to the Artane Band. The first by Sinn Fein's Cllr Ciaran O Moore and the 2nd by Fine Gaels, Naoise O Muirí - supported by Fianna Fáil's Cllr Sean Paul Mahon and Labour's Cllr Alison Gilliland.
Both motions were passed at the North Central Area meeting.
Two Cllrs did not support them.
Both of these motions were deeply insensitive and airbrushed out the true history of the Artane Band and indeed the Artane industrial School.
